05 / SYNTHETIC MEMORY

Synthetic Memory reverses the logic of Kőszeghy’s earlier AI-assisted paintings. Instead of using generative images as source material, she now constructs analogue collages by hand to imitate the visual behaviour of early image-generating systems—their unstable anatomy, improbable transitions and synthetic sense of space. These collages become the basis of new paintings, turning a rapidly obsolete machine aesthetic into a manually reconstructed memory. Human vision begins to reproduce what it once learned from the machine.
